Summary

CCAYEF plans to train 50 ex-brides in Uganda in tailoring/ fashion design. Since some Ex- brides and teen mothers for several reasons can't re-join formal school, they chose to learn making school uniforms, trousers, sweaters and bridal wears for 2 years for the betterment of their lives and their babies.

Challenge

Prossy, 15 and an orphan grew up with her elder sister. At 14, her sister withdrew support, forcing her into marriage. Leaving this marriage was impossible due to lack of an alternative. CCAYEF intervened to support her re-join school, but having dropped out in primary 2, she was illiterate and now pregnant. She is interested in tailoring. With one tailoring machine it is possible to train Prossy. However, 49 other girls in her situation want to acquire the same skills to become self-reliant.

Solution

Purchase of sewing machines, training materials for 50 ex-brides and allowances for trainers.

Long-Term Impact

This project will develop tailoring and fashion designing skills to 50 ex-brides and teenage mothers, empowering them and allowing them to rise out of poverty, which will provide for their families' health and well-being.
