60 youths from poor families in the slums of Lubaga will be trained in vocational skills to enable them create their own jobs and raise incomes to support their families and communities
Almost 88% of youths in the slums of Lubaga are below secondary level of education due to poverty. They have no employable skills that can enable them create their own jobs. They instead engage in anti social behaviors like prostitution, drug and substance abuse, and theft that have resulted into HIV infection, early parenthood, imprisonment, and death when found stealing. Although NPYA is doing a great job to train them in various life planning skills, there is a need for them to be employed.
