Challenge

Patricia, 16, who is 8 months pregnant, grew up with a single mother. She conceived out of sexual violence. Since her mother has to provide for her and other siblings' needs, she was unable to cope with the huge needs of Patricia. CCAYEF intervened and is training her in hair plaiting-the area of her interest with training materials available. Patricia is happy now and plans to put up her own business. However, 49 other girls are interested in acquiring the same skills to become self-reliant.

Solution

Purchase of training materials for 50 ex-brides and allowances for trainers.

Long-Term Impact

This project will enable 50 vulnerable girls in Uganda to acquire skills in hairdressing and salon, empowering them and allowing them to rise out of poverty in order to provide for their families and communities.
