Train 50 People in Autism Behavior Challenges -Goa

Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) is a developmental disability characterised by challenges in social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech & communication as well as sensory processing difficulties due to which they experience the world around them differently. Due to their inability to effectively communicate & relate to other people, children with autism show many challenging behaviours on a day to day basis. This greatly impacts the families & professionals working with children with autism.

While every child with autism is unique, many face similar challenges which impact their learning & ability to smoothly go through their day to day routine. Given the complex nature of this condition, most families & professionals find it difficult to understand the causes of challenging behaviours in ASD & are unable to implement the necessary strategies to manage them effectively. As a result, early intervention & training parents & professionals have become the need of the hour.

Sethu's training workshop in collaboration with Ummeed (Mumbai's leading NFP in child development) will provide a pool of decades of experience to teach parents & professionals evidence based practices to manage challenging behaviours. Conducted by leading ASD interventionists, the workshop will address the needs of parents by providing practical solutions for their children as well as focus on practice of family centered care for professionals when working with families of children with ASD.

Long-Term Impact

Outcome: A cadre of professionals & parents who can successfully manage challenging behaviour in children with ASD in Goa. The workshop will serve as a platform to strengthen collaborations between professionals & families of children with ASD which is deeply lacking in Goa. Thus resulting in a uniform way of handling behaviour challenges which is primary for successful behaviour management. Trained confident parents will be a vital resource to new families who are struggling with the diagnosis.
