Challenge

Globally, there is a growing impetus from Governments and private sector to promote inclusive development through a results-oriented approach. Grounded in data and evidence from robust research, such an approach can help promote accountability, improving decision-making across policy, project life cycles, and measure 'impact' objectively. Competence in research and data-driven approaches has emerged as a vital skill-set in the repertoire of policymakers, practitioners and budding researchers.

Solution

Two week structured course, designed to introduces participants to a range of issues pertaining to socio-economic development in the context of developing countries, specific to Indian and South-Asia. Specific topics include financial inclusion, financing of MSME, livelihoods and more. The course will be a well-mixed of theory and practical modules. At the end, participants will learn research issues and methodologies that will assist them in designing and conducting their rigor research.

Long-Term Impact

25 young researchers will be trained, can align their research work beyond academic implication, and be able to address policy and industry requirements. Apart from getting exposure to socioeconomic issues; participants will also get exposure to latest tools and techniques in research and will get exposure to research project management, challenges and learning. Specifically will learn what doesn't work in research and how to manage unsuccessful projects.
