Report: Women Without Borders Kenya

You can’t save every child, but for the children you save – it means everything!

Near the Kaesler Childrens Home, Bungoma, there were living four brothers and sisters. The mother left some times ago and the father was addicted to alcohol and mentally not in the position to take care about his daughters and sons. In mode to survive the oldest daughter, Linda, eight years old, began to take care of her younger brothers and sister. There are the youngest sister, Daisy, who is two year old, then her brother Layi, three years old and the oldest brother Linus, five years old. However Linda does – she could survive with the younger ones without any help of the father who was most of the time out of the house.

Women Without Borders Kenya found the children abandoned in the house of the father. No food, no water, nothing to change the dirty and broken clothes. Even after a several weeks WWBK could see that the situation of the children was not improving. Either the mother came back neither the father stopped drinking and behaved like a father. So WWBK decided to take the children in Kaesler Children Home. The children should get the chance to grow up in a safety community with regularly food, clean clothes and education. So Florence, one of the members of WWBK, went to the government and prepared the documents. Meanwhile the German intern tried to fund-raise some money in her country – because there is the need to find a donator for every child who supports his child with 25 US Dollar each month. Fortunately everything was working so after two weeks the abandoned children could be rescued.

Now the four brothers and sisters are living in Kaesler Children Home and they are improving each day. With regular food and the community with the other children they are getting stronger and nowadays you can see them smiling. The three older children already started to go to school and in a half year even the youngest sister can join. Thanks to everybody who supports us!
