Dear Friends and sponsors,
Women Without Borders Kenya is pleased to thank you for your generous support toward orphans in Western part of Kenya. This activity was done between the months of September to November 2012. We sensitized the community and we served about HIV/AIDS impact on the children and fortunately we were able to raise $16,000.
Our main objective was to improve the livelihood of 500 orphans and other vulnerable children in Bungoma County towards sustainable development. Bungoma is in Western part of Kenya near the border to Uganda.
This season we managed to support 200 children. 50 children from Keasler Children Home and 150 children from the community. Most of the children we supported were provided with medication, food, education, clothing, moral and spiritual support. We organized for outreach medical treatment which the government offered with trained doctors to treat children free of charge. We provided Christmas clothes to Keasler Children Home, some blankets for the new rescued children, mattresses, sheets and other basic needs. We received some funds from constuent development fund which paid for staff salaries and some children activities. Many people joined us to fundraise with us. Our estimated budget was $25,000 but we managed to raise $16,000.
During this term we had three volunteers. Two from within Kenya and one from German. We hope through your support more lifes will be saved. We shall have reduced rate of child mortality rate, we shall empower children with education and we shall be eradicating poverty levels according to the 8 UN Millennium Development Goals. We still have many children in these communities who need our support. Please watch out our profile in facebook. There we present our daily work.
