We use communication technologies to create a safe space for marginalized women to be powerfully involved in the urban environmental justice movement. This mobile app project will build a narrative-based networking ecosystem bringing under-resourced change-makers, social entrepreneurs, and activists together to collaborate with each other and connect with aspiring leaders, beneficiaries, support communities, and allies.
Systemic bias within the environmental justice movement's leadership, media, outreach standards and practices manifest in skewed planning, implementation, and outcomes. Marginalized women are under-represented at imaging front lines, lack influence in organizational development, and their power is diminished at the policy-making table.
Through this narrative-rich network, we unite current change-makers with aspiring ones, neglected beneficiaries, and supportive allies elevating the dialogue and practices within the environmental justice movement. Our organization spotlights Black, Latinx, Asian, immigrant women and/or women from lower-income communities and our re-imagined leadership pathways provide alternative spaces and opportunities of support and guidance their historically privileged counterparts regularly receive.
Our short and long term goals are to create pathways and programs for more than 10 million women worldwide, that will resonate powerfully; uniting all activists, allies and supporters, policymakers, and others wanting to understand and remedy the marginalization of low-resourced women and their communities within the urban sustainability movement.
