December 2010 Report

By Heidi K. Papoff | Development Assistant

The Dougy Center is in the midst of its fall/winter fundraising season, which was kicked off by a successful Fall Event, raising $80,000.

Our next big event is Reflection on May 14, 2011 at The Governor Hotel in downtown Portland.  This gala begins with a champagne reception, a silent auction, an "almost live" auction, a dinner and live auction.  The evening is topped off with the drawing for the winner of a 2011 Porsche Boxster.  The Dougy Center has begun selling raffle tickets for the Boxster at $100 each and only 2,000 will be sold.

The funding we have raised with Global Giving helps us to buy the supplies we need to run our program.  We need items that range from popcorn, M&Ms, coffee, tea, art supplies, to printer paper for our office.  It costs $1,500 to sponsor one child for a year and we have come close to raising enough to sponsor one child so far with this project.

The Dougy Center depends greatly on our 175+ volunteers who help with office work, group facilitation, event support, etc.  The Volunteer Appreciation Party is on Friday, January 28th at The Governor Hotel.  It is a time to thank our volunteers and give recognition where it is due.
