After a short summer break, grief support groups have begun again in Portland, Oregon. The Dougy Center is still operating its main house out of a temporary location in Northeast Portland, due to the arson fire of June 2009 that destroyed our main location in Southeast Portland. We also have locations in Canby and Hillsboro, Oregon.
The funding we have raised with Global Giving helps us to buy the supplies we need to run our program. We need things that range from popcorn, M&Ms, coffee, tea, to printer paper for our office. It costs $1,500.00 to sponsor one child for a year, so we have come close to raising enough to sponsor one child so far.
The Dougy Center is holding its annual Fall Event on October 28, 2010 at 12 pm at The Governor Hotel in downtown Portland. This is an event to introduce new audiences to The Dougy Center. We encourage supporters, volunteers, or participants of The Dougy Center to host a table and invite individuals who would like to learn more about us.
