Elohim Development Association is working to support a vulnerable elderly population in the community of Bombo, Uganda. During political conflict, these widows fled their land and are now destitute, living in dilapidated houses. Through the Beautiful Wrinkles Project, Elohim supports them with medical care, legal aid, and nutritional meals. Now the Beautiful Wrinkles Project strives to improve their poor living conditions by building 5 simple houses.
Approximately one-third of the homes in Bombo house this vulnerable population. The elderly suffer from poor sanitation, poverty, and disease. They are marginalized, excluded from economic and social services provided by the government. Due to HIV/AIDS, many are grandmothers caring for orphans, whom they struggle to support with basic needs. Your support will make it possible for widows, children, and the elderly to benefit from simple, stable, and comfortable shelter.
The Beautiful Wrinkles Project needs your support-with adequate resources, they can obtain construction materials and renovate the run-down houses to habitable conditions. Proper sanitation will prevent disease, and having simple, safe houses will empower the widows to better their lives.
Constructing 5 houses and toilets for the widows and elderly will allow them to concentrate on their livelihoods. Focusing on farming and other economic activities will provide needed income, uplifting those households and benefiting the wider community.
