This program supports services for performing arts and entertainment professionals experiencing emergency due to COVID-19. The Actors Fund, a national human services organization headquartered in NYC, serves everyone in film, theater, television, music, opera, radio, and dance: through financial assistance grants, health insurance enrollment, affordable housing resources, financial wellness workshops, career counseling, and support groups for injured dancers, seniors, and addiction/recovery.
The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated the performing arts and entertainment community, with sudden and rapid loss of employment throughout the industry since mid-March 2020. The crisis has created urgent need for The Actors Fund's services, and we seek support to continue providing emergency financial assistance, offer counseling and group support services, administer timely online workshops and seminars, provide senior care, and other vital programming.
The Actors Fund recognizes that the recovery and future health of this industry depend on the sustainability of its professionals. The Fund's programs and services create this capacity for wellness, and, in some cases, enable survival. The timeline of the pandemic and its overall impact remain uncertain, making ongoing support critical to The Fund's ability to continue providing services that have become even more urgently necessary.
As the COVID-19 crisis lengthens, The Actors Fund is committed to its mission of fostering stability, resiliency, and providing a safety net for this community. Our vision of a world in which individuals contributing to our country's cultural vibrancy are supported, valued, and economically secure is at the forefront of current efforts, with the focus on ensuring that future generations of artistry remain viable.
