Let's Dance International Frontiers plans to celebrate the tenth birthday of the annual dance festival by presenting diverse dance performers from 10 different countries. This project will allow young and emerging dancers to perform at an international level and give them the opportunity to share their creativity to a wider audience. The festival aims to make leading dance companies from around the world more accessible, bringing people together through dance.
Leicester is one of the most diverse cities in the UK and we want to share that diversity with a wider audience of people. Currently there is a lack of opportunities for young and emerging dancers and choreographers particularly from diverse backgrounds. We feel that not all voices are being heard in the arts sector, we want to champion and promote the diversity of the UK.
LDIF will provide the opportunity for artists from all backgrounds and cultures to present their work at the festival; by showcasing leading dance companies from around the world for the first time in the UK, support emerging dancer to develop new work and provide opportunities to train in diverse and unique dance techniques at a high quality level. As a showcase for the wide variety of diversity the UK has to offer. It is a celebration, we want to share this and inspire people.
Emerging artists from the UK will be given creative support, empowering young people and reflecting the rich diversity of the UK. We will maintain a healthy relationship with performers from across the globe. This also allows us to represent different cultures in a positive manner. This creates a legacy, that will change the landscape of dance and diversity for the better. The opportunities given to emerging artists has made a difference to their professional and personal development.
