Tailoring Machine Project Helping 1000 Women

by ABASSEEKIMU WOMEN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (AWDA)

Summary

We are helping ladies to become self reliant, in Africa ladies were left behind to produce children for their husbands and do domestic work. The association is now trying to forge a way forward for ladies to learn any technical skill to improve their social life rather than depending on one bread winner who is the man in the family. The project will purchase sewing machines and knitting machines for our Association which will help to train our members.

Challenge

The community of Kayunga where our Association is located faces a problem of illiteracy in that not very many people got formal education especially women, and the education system available in Uganda does not support technical education instead it trains job seekers not job creators. Above all ladies are too much side lined when it comes to financial and education sectors, therefore; the Association is looking forward to initiating tailoring training centre for its members. .

Solution

The project is aiming at buying knitting machines and sewing machines that will be used to train its interested members in tailoring and knitting skills, having acquired the skill the trainees shall use them to produce some thing for themselves and the community hence improving their social being.

Long-Term Impact

Today ladies have taken full responsibility of taking care of their children when men haven taken on boozing, from their meager resources ladies cannot buy clothes, pay school dues as well as growing food for their families without a clear source of income. The community will benefit through using the skills acquired to generate income by the trainees hence solving simple domestic needs like school fees, health charges, and many others. It will benefit directly 1000 women and indirectly 3000 peopl
