Summary

This Project will train at least 30 Refugees and IDPs in Tailoring in Goma/DRC, and will provide equipment to those who have completed and put in place a modern Tailoring Center which will solve the existing needs in the communities. This will become a livelihood activity for both refugees in IDPs as they will produce and sell their items to local communities. This will also create opportunities for tourists to visit and other people who will come to visit.

Challenge

Refugee women in DRCongo were abandoned, while they do not have access to livelihood opportunities, they are extremity vulnerable and highly stigmatized in their communities , many cannot even manage to respond to their basic needs, and are victims of all forms of sexual exploitation and face all forms of sexual abuses. Even young girls are at permanent risks and in such their children are also a victims because they do not access education. they are no projects looking at their well-being.

Solution

We just want to train them, and then offer them shewing machines which will help them to earn some money, We want to operate for a Shop where they can sell their products and where all visitors and humanitarian aid workers can find them. Every day they will work in the tailoring center, produce items and work on things brought by people in the community, this will be generating money which will be used by these refugees in order to survive and respond to their basic needs.

Long-Term Impact

They will be economically stable and will end poverty among refugees especially women and young girls in DRC. This will offer them better opportunities to be integrated in their communities and end stigmatization and discrimination. This will change the public perception in which refugees are considered as problems and threats to the community, and help members to be part of the economic solutions in the communities, they will pay taxes, make social contributions and solve problems of people.
