Mid-year accomplishments of Sustainable Rural Life in 2013
Dear Sustainable Rural Life friends,
We are more than happy to inform you that our social enterprise partner Servicio Continental de Mensajeria (SCM) awarded us with a $US100,000 grant in order to begin working with our Yucatan partner´s employees to launch the process of Carbon Bonds Certification.
The Canadian Fund in Mexico allowed us to use the remaining resources of last year´s grant to keep on doing monitoring and training field trips to assure the continuity use of ecotechnologies with excellent results. We are proud of testify people enthusiasm and collaboration. During last May we apply for a new grant from the Canadian Fundo in Mexico which includes the following number of beneficiaries: (see table attached)
We will able to purchase 115 solar pots and 115 Clean Cookstoves to implement them in rural communities located in four states of Mexico: Baja California Sur, Querétaro, Tabasco and Quintana Roo. With these additional pairs of ecotechnologies we include more families to the project and beneficiaries are increasing. The Global Giving donations are destined to complement ecotechnologies deliveries to remote rural places and to supply meals and material during the capacity building workshops in the field.
This amazing project is able to transform communities in three aspects: economical, environmental as well as sanitary by reducing diseases generated by the daily exposure to open fires. For 2013 we are proud to say that more than 1000 families have been directly benefitted from the program and we are looking forward the next step: Carbon Bonds Certification.
We thank all our donors who believe in this cause and support us; we hope you continue being part of it.
All the best,
Sustainable Rural Life Team
