Body Surgery aims to support low income patients in Tajikistan affected by inborn and acquired body defects by providing free reconstructive surgeries to treat body deformations such as cleft lip, severe burns etc.
Over 32% of the population in Tajikistan lives below the national poverty line of 175.2TJS ($20) per month. Inborn and acquired defects are common and substantially affect the individuals mentally and physically, making most of them incapable of contributing to the society, and becoming social outcasts for their entire life. Body Surgery will provide them free operations with diagnostic tests and post-surgery treatment, helping them become empowered members of the society.
The Body Surgery is dedicated to raise funds to support low income patients in need of a surgery. With the support of the Danghara Medical Hospital and a team of highly experienced surgeons and a nurse, we have been able to provide 423 free surgeries to date. We aim to change the lives of 1000 people by 2020.
This funding will allow us to provide 65 eligible patients with free surgeries which will not only remove physical deficiencies, but also allow to have a healthy state of mind, give or increase their earning potential, help them to have a normal life and opportunities which are open to the rest of the society.
