There are many children working on the street without any parental care and they have no viable alternatives. Our project aims to solve this issue through financial support for parents. We want to detect children whose families are in need and provide assistance to them in order to make sure that they send their children to school in return. Parents do not see the value of education, either because it is not seen relevant to their lives or it is an obstacle to make money.
Children are sent out each day to work in the city to earn money for their family. They work all day and return home at night after working on the street, therefore there is no time to allocate for school and they tend to drop out school. Families are in need of money and they believe that sending the children to the school is a waste of money. Even though the families think that they only lose money when their children do not work, it is obviously more than that.
We encourage families not to end the children's formal education by providing financial support. If families make sure that they will let the children continue their education then we will give them 1000$ in total, 85 $ per month. In order for the payment to continue on a monthly basis, we will keep an eye on the frequency of attendance.
Education can be one of the most powerful tools to enable children to fulfill their potential. The longer a child stays on the street, the less likely he or she can develop skills, knowledge and confidence to build a better life. In this respect, our project will help children who are missing out on education right now and support families to understand the importance of education.
