Challenge

More than 20,000 youth of Niger Delta engaged themselves in the act of violence regarding the anguish, deprivation, and poverty visited on the people by different oil companies and the Nigeria government. This struggle resolved to violence and has led to the killing of many young people and violations of their human rights. This violence and insecurity has brought suffering to the people of Niger Delta, especially the youth and the economy of the people.

Solution

The selected 28 teachers trained by the project with our international partners curriculum in peace and human rights programs e.g (Peacejam Foundation and Youth for Human rights International) will be used to educate and build young people selected from 28 schools in the region to become peace and human rights advocates. This training will integrate the youth into the society as peace builder instead of warlords.

Long-Term Impact

The project will train 5,000 young people selected from the 28 school in the community and build them into human rights advocate and peacebuilding actors. At the long run the people of Niger Delta area will enjoy a peaceful community where the people will move freely and do their business and this will also increase the economical growth of the area.
