SaferRwanda seeks to empower anti GBV committees with prevention,intervention and response skills through Training Trainers workshops.Victims of violence and rights violations will be assisted by providing them with cows/goat/pigs to solve the problem of problem of poverty since most GBV cases are caused by poverty in families.
22% of women aged 15-49 have experienced sexual violence. The main perpetrators of women's first experience of sexual violence are current or former husbands/partners (27% of women who have experienced sexual violence). 37% of victims first experienced sexual violence as teenagers and 14% were aged 10-14 years and 2% under 10 years. Some those who reported experiencing sexual violence before aged 15.Women and girls Gender Based Violence victims in Musanze district will benefit from the project.
GBV committees will be empowered with skill to fight GBV through Training Trainers workshops; Awareness campaigns to the population on the need to better understand gender-based violence built through training 47 trainers (ToT) who will later on train others; Victims of violence and rights violations are assisted through counseling, medical care and legal action. Increased knowledge in village savings and loan association.
Building the capacity of GBV committees will increase better understanding of GBV later replicated respective locations.Increased awareness of the community on the problem of gender based violence. Improved knowledge,understanding and communication skills to access multi service response to survivors of GBV and improved coordination. Improved Socio Economic empowerment of vulnerable families and victims of GBV.
