A large section of the population in Mumbai is exposed to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Every 19th adult in Mumbai is likely to be HIV positive, with 9% of total infections occurring in 1.5% of the city's total population. RCP is a comprehensive residential care programme that aims at restoring a wholesome childhood to children in crisis, that are orphaned and vulnerable, through health and nutritional care, psycho-social support, education, sports, recreation, family life values.
By providing not just a home this project provides a wholesome childhood so that children grow up healthy and can stand on their own feet. Apart from health and nutritional care we provide psycho-social support, education, sports, recreation, family life values and personality development. We facilitate opportunities for the healthy growth and development of the children, until they are 21 years of age or either reintegrated with their families, or extended family, or start living on their own.
This project will ensure that the children receive quality education to equip them to stand on their feet in the future. All the children are enrolled in government aided schools/colleges and the organization provides for their educational supplies. There are full time teachers who visit the centres on a daily basis to help school going children with their school work Those in standard 11 and 12 attend tuition classes to prepare them for the Board Exam.
