Our community center has been in the front line of sheltering and supporting women and children fleeing the war in Ukraine. In collaboration with the local Ukrainian embassy we have sheltered 170 women and children in our center and planning to shelter 130 more very soon. In our shelter we provide 3 nutrition rich meals a day, high end accommodation in a safe and secure environment, as well as regular ongoing education environment carried out by Ukrainian teachers.
The conflict in Ukraine brought terror and suffering upon the Ukrainian communities, causing millions to flee their country. Among many other countries Albania opened its doors to women and children fleeing the conflict. In close cooperation with the Ukrainian Embassy in Albania and the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv our center opened its doors initially to 43 persons. The situation in Ukraine didn't get better and now we're hosting 170 women & children in need of safety, food and accommodation.
This project aims to support these mothers and children in accord with the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv and the local Ukrainian Embassy. This project aims to provide safety, accommodation, nutrition, environments for the children to carry out their education program, medical support, psychological support with the help of a trained professional staff. Our aim is to support the community as they make their way into being part of Albanian society or until they can go back in their home.
This will enable the children to carry on with life, keep learning and show them that the world isn't always pain and suffering. Give them the opportunity to integrate in Albanian society or facilitate them to get back to their country once it is safe with a breath of hope, love and empathy. Children are our future. We are making sure our future knows care, hope and knows to keep an open door and an open heart a time of crisis. The love we show now, is the love they will carry into the future.
