Success Stories from our Cherished Clients

The Sun Shade Foundation has to date through the kind donations from GlobalGiving platform, provided financial support services to 50 women to help them expand their trade and improve their lives. This has been possible due to the recycling of our loans as per our unique model. Thus, funds are also given to others after successful monthly
repayment to begin another cycle.

An average of 60 poor but active women, willing and able to work comes through our office for basic loan support every week. We believe that giving the poor access to credit allows them to immediately put into practice the skills they already know and the cash they earn is then a tool, a key that unlocks a host of other abilities and allows them to explore their own potential. Your generosity has indeed made an immediate difference in the lives of these women and it will still be required to enable us achieve our total remaining funding goal of $50,558 and to serve as many of these women who comes to our office to seek for basic loan support.

The Foundation has as at the end of July, 2013 served a total of 1,167 economically active but forgotten urban and per-urban poor people with GH¢402,600.00 ($211,845). As a result of our training and monitoring schemes, loan repayments have been 100% and this has helped in the sustainability of our projects.

Because of your continuous support, lives are being changed for the better. The beneficiary clients are so excited and we are humbled by the impact the Foundation continue to make in several communities as a result of your support.

Find below some of the success stories and corresponding pictures of our cherished clients, highlighting on the major improvements in their lives, family and business;

Madam Cecilia Boadi (Awura Ama): sells cocoyam and has four kids. She was previously buying from a supplier at a higher price for sale but through the financial support from Sun Shade Foundation, she can now purchase a greater portion of her trade at wholesale prices. The diet of her families has improved significantly as she recounts that she can now afford 2-3 meals a day as opposed to a single meal before she started the business.

Madam Osei Faustina (Mama Afua): is a trader at the Kumasi Central Market. She is into the sale of cassava and
plantain. She can afford to smile now because she has been able to expand her trade and her children are healthier so that they hardly miss days of school, and as a result of regular earnings she can pay for school supplies (books, school bags, shoes, uniforms).

Madam Anima Yaa: has been able to expand her trade with the financial support from Sun Shade Foundation. She has progressed successfully through loan cycles and there is a marked improvement in the assortment and display of her merchandise. She is grateful to Sun Shade Foundation for training and encouraging her to start planning,
saving, and building a better future for herself and family.

Because of your support, we have much to be thankful for the lives of these and many other women we are able to extend a helping hand in transforming their lives and children in particular. We at Sun Shade Foundation totally agree with Muhammad Yunus of Grameen Bank in his statement that: “When a destitute mother starts earning an income, her dreams of success invariably center on her children. When a destitute father earns extra income, he focuses more attention on himself. Thus, money entering a household through a woman brings more benefits to the family as a whole.”
