FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS IN RUSORORO SECTOR
AKWOS organized a Young Girls Football Teams Competition which were selected in different schools and Football academies that took place on 28th and 29th May 2014, with the main objective of Prevention of HIV/AIDS which was sponsored by CUAH (Churches United Against HIV/AIDS) and NOSCR (National Olympic and Sport Committee of Rwanda)
After the tournament different messages were passed from someone who is a seropositive just as a testimony to give awareness to the youth and mobilizing them to go for free Testing so that they are aware of their status, in case some are found positive to go for treatment and those found negative to gain knowledge on how to stay safe and not to isolate those infected because they can still live longer, study, and contribute to the country’s development.
About 200 youth were tested and learnt more about HIV prevention.
All the Football teams that participated were given presents and the winning team received a Trophy. At the end of the event, the players and the community at large were sensitized about the rights of Girls to play and were told that a good player needs to be healthy and physically fit.
