AKFP has established 66 Child Protection Centers across the country to provide care, rehabilitation, education, and training to street and vulnerable children. These centers offer food, education, and skills development to help children become productive citizens. This initiative aligns with UNICEF's goals and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on quality education, reduced inequalities, and promoting the well-being of children in vulnerable situations.
Children in Pakistan are vulnerable to many forms of violence (physical, psychological, sexual) and exploitation, including economic exploitation and child trafficking.Street children predominantly do not have access to the basic needs of life for which they have to come out and work, when their age is to play and learn. Nationally and internationally, child labor is a crime but child labor is not given any importance.About 3.3 million of Pakistani [1]children are trapped in child labor.
This project will provide street children with essential services like shelter, education, and vocational training, reducing their vulnerability to violence, exploitation, and child labor. By offering a safe environment and skills development, the Child Protection Centers aim to empower these children, helping them escape the cycle of poverty and exploitation. The initiative directly addresses the issue of child labor, offering children an alternative to working and the opportunity to thrive.
The long-term impact of this project will be the transformation of vulnerable children into self-sufficient, educated, and skilled individuals, breaking the cycle of poverty and exploitation. By providing access to quality education and vocational training, the project will contribute to reducing child labor and promoting social inclusion. Over time, this will foster a generation of empowered citizens who can contribute to the country's development.
