This project aims to construct a motorized water system, tank reservoir, and multiple tap water points within Paluda Refugee camp. This will address the critical water shortage being experienced by over 20,000 refugees from South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Eritrea. By providing access to clean, the project will significantly improve the life and health of the refugee population who are currently grappling with a high prevalence of waterborne diseases, school dropout, and conflict.
Paluda Refugee Camp is facing a severe water crisis. The camp has a high population, making access to clean and safe water a major challenge. Another factor contributing to the water crisis is the limited water sources. The area has no rivers or streams, and existing water ponds are often seasonal and unreliable. This scarcity of water sources has led to the spread of waterborne diseases, school dropouts, conflict among communities and livestock for access to water, exacerbating the crisis.
This project aims to construct a motorized water system, tank reservoir, and multiple tap water points within Paluda Refugee camp. This will address the critical water shortage being experienced by over 20,000 refugees from South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, DRC and Eritrea. By providing access to clean, the project will significantly improve the life and health of the refugee population who are currently grappling with a high prevalence of waterborne diseases, school dropout, and conflict.
The project will improve access to clean water within refugee camps, reducing the burden on particularly women and children who bear the responsibility of water collection. Will mitigate the risk of waterborne disease leading to improved health and hygiene practices. Children can have enough time to attend school reducing the school dropout rate. Refugees can engage in water-related activities, such as small-scale agriculture, brickmaking, generating income, and fostering self-reliance.
