Leadership Mentoring Meet and Greet / Online Orientation Session Was a Great Success

On the 27th September, 2012 we held our first Girls Leadership Mentoring Meet and Greet / Online Orientation session. All of the inaugural mentees were present and participated in a lively, engaged format during the orientation. Welcome videos, networking, group activities and a raffle draw were part of the orientation session.

The mentees were briefed on the upcoming online book reading circle and provided an update of their upcoming program, training, workshops and activities for the 2013 year. The mentees were also provided with two leadership articles namely “Self-Leadership” and “Creative Leadership” to read in advance for their January 25th 2013 Online Reading Circles.  The Meet and Greet session and Online Orientation was reported to be a huge success as mentees familiarized themselves with  key personnel from DA and also network amongst themselves.

The Mentees are also a part of a closed Facebook group dedicated solely to mentee networking and serving as an online information hub for mentee and mentor interaction. This Fall the mentorship program expanded further with five additional guest mentors, namely Dr. Crystal Hurd, Dr. Gladys Palmer, Ms.Adeyinka Wyse, Rodney Allen-Campbell and Ms. Melody Davis.

Guest Mentors will be conducting the first face-to-face mentee session in Freetown in February 2013. Topics such as Health Leadership and Spiritual Leadership will form part of the workshop and training.
