At Instituto Nueva Escuela (INE) we have always been proud of providing a high standard Montessori education to children from low income communities around Puerto Rico. Certainly these recent times where our Island has suffered from major emergencies such as earthquakes and the actual global pandemic, have affected the public schools we serve.
Nonetheless thanks to the support system and resources provided to our public schools in our project, by our amazing donors like you, our community has thrived.
Though Puerto Rico entered in a very strict lockdown since March 15, INE has worked non-stop from home, in order to value our mission. Here are some of our accomplishments during this challenging times:
INE's Montessori teachers and assistants worked remotely with the students to make sure the children and youth had a new routine and activities for learning from home, while being mindful of the whole family dynamic.
INE made alliances with other organizations to provide food to our families in need.
Our "Casa Familiar" program used the technology to serve around 200 families, offering music therapy, recreational activities, yoga, telepsychology among other services.
While preparing to provide our students with a stronger platform for imparting a Montessori education in the upcoming Fall semester, INE launched a Virtual Summer Camp, in an alliance with "Juan Domingo en Acción", to provide children with activities such as arts and crafts, physical exercises, meditation, "cyber field trips", theater and more.
We humbly can say that our team at INE continues to work day by day so that the Public Montessori Project continues to flourish in each community. We celebrate that despite the physical distance, we are united by only one purpose... a better Puerto Rico.
