TEPDGHO, through its children's innovation hub, provides special and inclusive learning spaces for over 4,700 children with disability in Tanzania. Our innovative programming, for children with disabilities from 4 years to 22 years, sparks creativity, problem solving and ensures that children with disabilities learn better. Our goal is to help create the next generation of our countries' change makers.
In Tanzania, 70% of children cannot read at primary level of education and 80% cannot perform basic math skills. At national level, there is a lack of vision for learning. At the school level, poorly trained and under resourced establishments mean that learning is not adapted to the needs of the children with disability. At the community level, little value is given to the importance of problem solving and creativity.
We work to address these critical gaps and short fallings. From our hub, we teach 21st century skills to children from all backgrounds. We provide services for early learning, for creative expression and for analytical thinking. We partner with schools within the country to ensure accessibility and equity. We train teachers and education professionals how to use locally available resources to create active learning spaces for children with disabilities. We invite our children to be creators of t
Children with disability who can think critically and analytically are able to effect change. This impact ripples through whole country. Having a generation of children equipped with the skills and capacities to analyse problems, evaluate impact and problem solve is the most powerful and transformational tool.
