The 100-Day Engagement Program is an inclusive employment initiative launched to support visually impaired youth entering the mainstream workforce. Started in 2020, the program provides structured career training, mentorship from corporate volunteers, and real workplace exposure. By 2025, five cohorts have been completed, supporting over 40 visually impaired participants to gain inclusive employment at companies such as Apple and Hilton.
China has over 18 million people with visual impairments, including 3.2 million young people. Yet employment opportunities remain extremely limited. In cities, only 7% of working-age people with disabilities work alongside non-disabled colleagues, and very few stay employed long term. Beyond physical barriers, unconscious bias and low expectations continue to restrict who is seen as "employable," preventing real inclusion in the workplace.
The program follows a 100-day structure combining a learning camp and an action phase. Participants receive intensive training in career skills, mobility, and workplace readiness, followed by remote mentoring from corporate volunteers. Through real goals, ongoing guidance, and employer engagement, the project helps visually impaired participants build confidence, skills, and pathways into inclusive employment.
The project builds a sustainable pathway from training to employment for visually impaired youth. By connecting talent with inclusive employers and demonstrating successful models, it helps shift workplace attitudes from charity to capability. Over time, this approach supports more equitable employment practices and contributes to a more diverse and inclusive labor market.
The Government of People’s Republic of China has implemented new regulations for foreign NGOs operating in China. This means that the disbursement of your donation to this project may be slightly delayed while we obtain the appropriate approval.
