The recent floods in the North-Eastern States of Assam, Manipur and Mizoram have caused immense loss to lives, properties and livelihood rendering thousands of people homeless and displaced. There is immediate need for safe drinking water, food, medical assistance and above all, Shelter. Habitat for Humanity India aims to support 1500 families affected by the floods by providing the Humanitarian Aid Kit, Transitional Shelter Kit and Family Essentials' Kit.

As per the initial assessments more than 0.1 million houses have been damaged severely.In the absence of proper drainage system & overflowing of the main river in the affected areas, water in the villages are likely to remain for more than a month from now. There is a huge crises of water, sanitation and shelter
In the 1st phase of the flood response plan, HFH India aims at supporting 1500 flood affected families by providing Humanitarian Aid Kit, Transitional Shelter Kit and Family Essentials' Kit. This initiative will facilitate the relief and recovery operations for the affected families. It will also reduce the vulnerabilities of the communities by engaging and educating them for WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and Transitional Shelter.
The next 2 phase of HFH India's Flood Response Program Plan include: Phase 2: Early Recovery (Aug- Dec 2017)-Families will be educated for behavioural change and for the disaster risk reduction and preparedness. Families will be assessed and assisted with repair of Houses, Wash systems, schools, community infrastructure etc Phase 3: Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (Jan - Dec 2018) Families will be assessed and assisted with New Houses, New Wash systems, livelihood, infrastructure, etc
