The project will support Girls aged between 10 to 18 years who are either forced into marriages by parents or poverty and have lost an opportunity to access education to improve their lives. The project will be done in Mchinji where in 2016 alone at Bua Secondary School about 30 girls got impregnated forced to drop from school and marry older men. Chinansi will engage community structures to respond to Child Marriage by doing awareness raising and advocating for revising the culture
Culture and poverty have made parents force their girl children gent into Early and forced marriages. Lack of cordinated community response has fueled early and forced marriages to be rampant in Malawi. In Mchinji for example at Bua Secondary School where over 30 girls were impregnated in one year and 25 of them were married off to older men. Chinansi will engage community structures to respond to early and forced marriages by revising the culture and withdraw girls and send them to school
