Mabalani Primary school project will complement the construction work of a school block facilitated by Mtende Homecraft Foundation that will accommodate 262 students (learners) who are currently learning under trees.
There are currently more than 520 students learning under trees at Mabalani Primary School - Chilumba. Although Mtende Homecraft Foundation is diligently working with the community to alleviate the problem, these children need urgent support in terms of classrooms that can accommodate them during this rainy seasons. Most students are confined in two rooms hence disruption of classes and Mtende is constructing school block of four classes that will accommodate 264 students but need more support.
Mtende has embarked on construction of a school block of four classrooms that will accommodate 264 students once completed. Currently Mtende Homecraft Foundation has done all building work and what is remaining is the finishing of the building which will involve roofing, plastering, flooring and fixing of school desks. Once completed, more learners will have access to better and quality education and this will reduce poverty in the area and country as a whole.
The project will provide shelter to more than 2000 allowing them to get better educate and further reduce poverty at household and community levels since education is key to development.
