Raksha Nepal in its working year of 8 years has done several activities for the protection and dignified survival of these women. RN when established a women shelter in 2009, has always been realizing the need of shelter for the children of these women too.
Ideally, every child needs to belong to a stable, secure, and loving family. It is a widely-accepted value that children should be provided care and protection so that they can grow and develop. It is also an internationally accepted value.
A huge number of women and girls from different remote areas of Nepal enter every year into capital city, in search of better life and better earning opportunities. Knowingly or unknowingly these women enter into this profession of prostitution. Raksha Nepal (RN) and its effort to protect these exploited women is unable to give good outcome, since the greater pulling factors for these women to return into there profession is the responsibility to provide good education to their children.
When there comes a situation of failure or unavailability of family care within our target groups, Raksha Nepal is obliged to provide appropriate institutional care for neglected children of these sexually exploited women. It is running a child shelter for 25 children currently. Once these children are in safe hands, they will get opportunity to learn in a family environment. Moreover, the mothers do not have to worry taking them along while they go to work or use their extra time productively.
Once the mothers become capable of bearing all the responsibility of their children, with a respectable alternative professions, they will be handed over to their family so that they are united with the family. Moreover, there is less chance of these children, following their mother's profession of prostitution, or falling into wrong company.
