Sembrando Confianza is an established agroecological farmers' market platform that has been connecting small-scale farmers with health-conscious consumers since 2012. Currently serving 25 farmers and 100 consumers, we aim to integrate 20 additional small-scale farmers into our network, facilitate the commercialization of 47 tons of food and connect with 100 new consumers. Our platform ensures farmers receive fair prices for their produce while providing consumers with fresh, chemical-free foods.
In rural Bogota, small-scale agroecological farmers lack access to fair markets, forcing them to sell at below-market prices through intermediaries despite growing consumer demand for healthy, sustainable food. Our current market infrastructure can't accommodate more producers or expand distribution. This prevents more farmers from earning fair incomes, limits consumers' access to local organic produce, and restricts the expansion of sustainable farming practices that protect fragile ecosystems.
By investing in infrastructure and technology, expanding our delivery frequency and hiring additional staff, our project will provide a stable market for more small-scale producers, boosting their incomes and livelihoods while creating jobs and stimulating rural economies. We will increase access to nutritious, locally sourced food for consumers, promoting healthier communities and agroecological practices that protect biodiversity. Production surpluses will go to food insecure communities.
The project will integrate 20 new farmers into the market ensuring them a consistent income, reducing their reliance on intermediaries and volatile market prices. 10 villages will benefit from biodiversity, soil and water conservation due to a clean food production. We will create at least 75 direct and indirect jobs in farming, logistics, and customer service. Educated consumers on the benefits of sustainable agriculture, make informed food choices and build resilient communities.
