This project funds full university scholarships in Medellin for low-income rural youth from Salgar, Colombia, covering tuition, living expenses, and mentorship. By supporting education, we help young changemakers transform their futures and uplift entire communities.
In Salgar, Colombia, poverty limits the dreams of young people who aspire to higher education. With over 45% of the population living in poverty, less than 10% access to university, and 1 in 3 drops out due to financial constraints. Many are forced to work instead of studying, in a region marked by armed conflict and over 4,600 victims. Every young person denied access to education is a lost opportunity to transform this reality.
Our scholarship program empowers talented low-income youth by providing access to higher education. We cover 90% of tuition, with the remaining 10% repaid flexibly after graduation to ensure financial sustainability. Monthly financial support covers essential expenses, allowing students to focus on their studies. Beyond academics, we offer mentorship, psychological support, and cultural experiences, shaping well-rounded individuals committed to their communities and ready to make an impact.
Our scholarship program transforms lives and drives lasting change in Salgar. With 16 current scholars, we aim to award at least 3 full university scholarships each year. Graduates become leaders who uplift their families and community, often returning as mentors. This growing network fuels innovation, strengthens the local economy, and builds a future full of opportunity. More graduates mean a stronger, more innovative community.
