Mensajeros de la Paz provides free primary education to undervalued and underserved children from urban families in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In this project we aim to improve the quality of education and strengthen the learning processes for children who are in a situation of social vulnerability. We currently have seven locations in select impoverished neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. The beneficiaries are more than 250 children from 5 to 13 years of age.
In Argentina, 1 of 3 students is undereducated and 2-3 children per class will need to repeat their grade level this year. This is due to 50% of the childhood population living in poverty and lacking access to proper educational support. It is fundamental to have free after-school activities to improve their performance. Our program takes a holistic approach towards education including proper nutrition and exercise to significantly decrease the likelihood of grade repetition and school dropouts.
This project provides children with educational support, nutritious food, recreational activities, and vibrant community. Studies have shown that retention rates are much higher when learning is conducted in conjunction with proper nutrition and ample exercise. Our certified and paid professional teachers conduct educational exercises and art workshops for the children within a safe environment. Our simple approach lessens the equal-opportunity gap of children from poor communities.
By empowering over 250 children with education, we are strengthening their resilience to life challenges, opening doors of opportunities for their future, improving their confidence, and inspiring hope. Improved education opportunities will ensure a better future for these children and their subsequent generations.
