UPDATE ON WISE SCHOOLS OUTREACH PROGRAM

WISE’s School’s Outreach Program which aims at sensitizing students about domestic violence and abuse issues, continues to pursue this goal with the support of our cherished philanthropists at GlobalGiving.

Since January, 2010 till date, a total of eleven (11) outreaches have been held in schools both in the Greater Accra metropolis and the Buduburam refugee settlement in the Central region of Ghana. In all these outreaches, a total number of seven hundred and forty (740) students (made up of 360 males and 380 females) where reached. Four (4) out of the eleven (11) outreaches were held in Accra with a total number of 198 students whiles the remaining seven (7) outreaches were held on the Buduburam Refugee settlement with a total number of 542 students reached.

WISE has reached out to a total number of twenty-six (23) schools on the Buduburam Refugee settlement, one on the Krisan Refugee settlement and sixteen (16) schools in the Greater Accra Region. In total, six thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight (6,868) students and forty-one (41) teaching staff have been reached in our outreaches since the commencement of the program.

As part of the annual Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender Violence campaign, WISE will be celebrating the 2010 Universal Children’s Day with some children at Manya Krobo, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
