Summary

This project supports over 70,000 Congolese refugees mainly women, children, and the elderly who fled violence in Eastern Congo and found shelter in Burundi. We provide emergency aid, food, shelter, and psychological support in refugee camps. This is the largest refugee influx Burundi has seen in decades, and urgent humanitarian help is needed now.

Challenge

Since January 2025, Burundi has experienced a massive influx of over 70,000 Congolese refugees escaping escalating violence in Eastern DRC. Most are women, children, and elderly people arriving with nothing. Refugee camps are overwhelmed, with critical shortages of food, clean water, and medical support. This urgent humanitarian crisis threatens thousands of lives without immediate response.
