Summary

Chunhui Children exists to bring family love and care to China's most vulnerable children. We operate and support nurturing and education programs with a proven track record for enabling at-risk children to reach their full potential. We will not stop until every child knows she is loved, knows her life matters, and has a chance at a bright future.

Challenge

Children belong in loving families. The experience of forming emotional bonds with a caring adult is essential for a child's healthy development. A small child's experiences dictate how her brain is wired. Each stimulus - each kiss, each story, each sunset, each smile - promotes the development of brain cells (neurons). A child who lacks connection with caring adults will often fail to thrive.

Solution

ChunHui's responsive, child-centered approach focuses on nurturing the whole child. It draws from the Western Reggio Emilia approach to enhancing each individual child's development and from the Chinese educational mandate that children learn about the arts, sciences, language, social development and health.

Long-Term Impact

Chunhui Children offers training and financial support for the creation and operation of enrichment and care programs in children's welfare institutions. All of our programs use Half the Sky's innovative curriculum that, over 16 years, has improved the lives of more than 100,000 children in China.
