Nodding disease poses a significant challenge for children in Northern Uganda, resulting in stunted growth, cognitive impairment, nodding episodes, physical disability, and brain intellectual disability. Current treatments primarily focus on symptom management as there is no known cure for nodding disease. One of the most concerning aspects of this condition is the severe seizures it causes, which are life-threatening as they lead to collapsing in hazardous places like water, fire, or bad object

Solution

With wheelchairs, they can move around independently, engage in social interactions, and participate in educational and recreational activities contributing to overall development and self-esteem without placing much burden on caretakers. Improved nutrition boosts their immune system, supports brain health, and boosts cognitive function. the initiative also lays the foundation for a long-term sustainable impact on the well-being of affected children and families through income-generating project
