Summary

On 5 March, South Africa confirmed its first case of COVID-19 a 38-year-old man who returned from Italy on Sunday. Your donation will support vulnerable HIV/AIDS orphans and their grandmothers in Johannesburg South, who need essential items such as soap, water, medicine and food, while keeping the community safe from abuse and violence. We are working together with our communities to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Challenge

Until recently, South Africa was one of the few countries in the world with no confirmed COVID-19 case. The president of South Africa announced on 23 March 2020, a number of unprecedented measures to help prevent the spread of this pandemic. South Africa confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on 5 March 2020. Lumu Organisation has taken swift measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and sensitize our communities. Help us continue to shield the children and their grandmothers from a bigger harm.

Solution

Lumu Community Based Organisation has developed a holistic approach to supporting communities in Johannesburg South, Gauteng - South Africa. Donations to this fund will allow us to continue to support the provision of soap, sanitize, groves, school work packages, food and radio awareness and educational programs to the communities we work with. We continue working to ensure services for children and grandmothers who have experienced violence, so they can remain safe during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Long-Term Impact

Both lives and livelihoods are at risk from this pandemic, as the disease is spreading quickly. Our project aim to reduce the impact of COVID-19. We intend to support emergency basic needs while building stronger response capacity.
