At the beginning of June the incessant rains arrived in the department of Arauca, and since then it has not stopped, turning into an inclement winter wave. The entire area was flooded, strongly affecting the villages that depend economically on river-related activities. We want to provide food and hygiene kits to the affected low-income families. We are working with NGOs on the ground to make sure the kits reach the people who need them most, and with your help, we will make a difference.
The rains have brought multiple affectations for the families of Arauca and mainly in the villages where most of them have children under 2 years of age or older adults. These families report total flooding of their homes and some of them have already been displaced to protect their safety, in addition to respiratory ailments due to the humidity. They are vulnerable families with low income, migrant population and indigenous population.
TECHO wants to support the affected families by delivering food and hygiene kits. With the support of each one of you, we will be able to fulfill the purpose of helping the affected families, and thus do our bit to overcome together the catastrophe we are facing! We will be making deliveries as soon as possible according to the resources obtained.
In the long term we would like to come to Arauca with ideas and housing proposals that will allow these families to have more favorable and dignified living conditions.
