From August 8 to 14, FAVL held a reading camp at the village library in Sara. 25 CM1 (4th grade) students participated in the camp, which included guiding reading sessions, singing, artistic activities, and educational sessions on topics such as malaria, HIV/AIDS and the importance of succeeding in school. This year there were 2 Peace Corps volunteers to help facilitate the camp. "For most of the camp, I worked with the group of the weakest readers. By the end of the week, they were still not up to the reading level of the other kids, but their skills had greatly improved. They were able to sound out words unaided and begin reading simple words on their own." - Carolyn, Peace Corps volunteer
