Since its opening in 2005, the library has served as an educational center for both students and adults, though with the popularity of the arts and crafts activities run by the librarian, Sara is developing quite a few new artists. Young readers love the art activity where they create their own bookmark. Each child cuts out their book mark, decorates it with colors and stickers and brings it back home to use when studying.

Story reading and the telling of fables continue to be one of the children’s favorite library activities. The librarian will often read from a book of local fables but often times students come to the library to share old fables told to them by their parents and grandparents.

In May, Sara’s primary-school students took part in a research study where solar-powered lamps were distributed (at random) to 4th and 5th graders. A research team will see how having the lamps at home impact the students’ reading and study habits. The research encourages students to visit the library (free membership offered), so the library has been very popular.

Students are anxiously waiting for the library to begin its annual summer reading camp, which is scheduled to run from August 8th – August 13th.
