With an activities coordinator as a librarian, the Dohoun library is always an animated place. In one activity in particular, the librarian used comic books in order to introduce the topic of corruption to young readers. Alidou, the librarian, used “La rançon de la corruption” in the Kouka comic book series to explain the definition of corruption and the consequences it can have on the country.
In May, Dohoun’s primary-school students took part in a research study where solar-powered lamps were distributed (at random) to 4th and 5th graders. A research team will see how having the lamps at home impacts the students’ reading and study habits. The research encourages students to visit the library (free membership offered), so the library has been very popular.
Fourth and fifth graders are anxiously waiting for the start of the library’s summer reading camp, which is scheduled to run from August 1st –August 7th.
