The Dohoun library recently hosted a Sound Workshop with young students to practice the pronunciation of letters and words. Classes in Burkina are taught in French, despite the fact that most children speak a local language with their families and have little or no exposure to French at home. Activities such as the Sound Workshop give children extra practice and encouragement in learning French as a second language. The children enjoyed the activity and showed that they have a great capacity for acquiring the building blocks of the language they will be using throughout their academic careers.
