Dear SOLA friends,
February 15th will mark 18 months since the fall of Kabul to the Taliban.
February 25th will mark 18 months since SOLA's arrival in our new home of Rwanda.
So much has changed in these past 18 months, but what hasn't changed -- and what can never change -- is our commitment to educating Afghan girls.
Just a few weeks ago, on the International Day of Education, our co-founder Shabana Basij-Rasikh spoke at the United Nations. Her message was powerful and uncompromising, and she used the moment to ask her audience a question: "What is one girl worth?"
We hope you'll take a moment to listen to Shabana yourself. The UN's global communications team has posted the Day of Education event here on their website in its entirety, and Shabana's speech begins at 54:25.
18 months on. We will not look away from the bravery of Afghan women and girls. We will not look away from Afghanistan.
Sola,
Kevin
