The project intends to improve the progress of children with disability, prevent regression and loss of achieved motor functions. Occupational therapy exercises will help the child develop and coordinate accurate movements of speech apparatus which will help produce of speech sounds. Physiotherapy will ensure functional independence which will lead to inclusion of children with disability in various projects as one of the pillar for vision 2030
Our recent study on access to therapy by children with disability revealed that 78.5% children with disability in Mombasa city, Kenya never attend to any kind of therapy. Majority of children with disability were found to have functional limitation as a result of inability to access therapy. This made them to regress in their day to day activities. The study also revealed that 81.5% of parents could not afford to pay for therapy for their children with disabilities due to the poverty level.
Wezesha Community Based Organization intends to provide multi-therapeutic therapy for children with disability. The main aims of the project will be: 1)To hasten their progress as well as prevent regression and any loss of achieved motor functions 2)Occupational therapy will help the child develop and coordinate accurate movements of speech apparatus which will help produce of speech sounds. 3)Physiotherapy increase functional independence in a child with disability
The project will be an avenue for inclusion of children with disability in various projects and activities, as one of the core pillars identified in the vision 2030.
