The project will make 60 elder baskets for Native American Indians living in El Dorado County that will be past out at our 2018 Winter Gathering. At the Winter Gathering we provide the elders with a Turkey & ham dinner, and an elder basket filled with goodies. Also a place to socialize with other Native American Indians. Along with native American Indian drumming and singing.
That are Native American Indian elders there is a majority of them that come from a non-federal recognized tribe, so they are slipping through the cracks because they don't have royities from tribe so they don't have enough money or they don't eat a hot meal everyday. So this event gives them a chance to see socialize with old and new friends, eat a hot dinner, and receive a basket of goodies they can use all year long.
We will provide the elders with a free dinner, traditional Native American Indians drumming, and a basket of goodies they can use all year long. Such as, gloves, hat, combs, toothbrushes, and much more.
